Venable counsel Joseph Hicks will present “New Tech, Old Rules: Keeping Up with the (Energy Transition) Joneses” at the ABA Section of Environment, Energy and Resources fall conference on October 12, 2023.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Acts were enacted to fulfill the United States Paris Accord commitments and the Biden administration’s goal of reducing carbon emissions. The legislation includes a historic investment in the future of hydrogen use. While these new Acts encourage use of clean energy technologies, a dated regulatory framework will make achieving these commitments challenging. Panelists will discuss the nuances of the newly funded unprecedented use of hydrogen and the limits imposed by the regulations. Panelists will also focus on potential modifications to the regulations.
