Adam Dobell

Adam Dobell has extensive experience in national security and international policy, principally in the Indo-Pacific.  Prior to joining Venable, Adam served as the first secretary for the department of home affairs at the Embassy of Australia in Washington DC, where he engaged with officials at the White House and congressional and industry stakeholders to further Australia’s national security interests. He also represented the Australian Government in multilateral groupings including the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation, the International Counter Ransomware Initiative, and the Quad.

During his tenure serving the Australian Department of Home Affairs, Adam provided guidance on policy issues at the nexus of homeland security, technology, and cybersecurity, including critical infrastructure protection, countering violent extremism, lawful access to encrypted data, and telecommunications security. He also advised senior departmental officials on international strategy as an Executive Officer.

Prior to his service in the Department of Home Affairs, Adam worked for the Department of Immigration and Border Protection as an assistant director for the Pacific and Transnational Issues Branch, managing engagement on national security and border security policy with governments in the Pacific.

Adam has been a featured speaker on the Cybersecurity of Critical Infrastructure at APEC Senior Officials Meetings and at DEFCON.
